Iphone 4 will not charge after water damage?

Hello on Sunday I left my Iphone 4 next to a frozen bottle of water this then lead to a puddle being formed over night when I woke up the phone was sitting in a small puddle of water but it was deep enough to cause water damage, About a hour after I woke up the phone started to turn its self on.
I did not do anything I had it on the site stood up so it could drain out as I did not have any rice or anything to use to dry it out.
But when it tried to turn on it was just showing a apple logo and then turning off again and it was just repeating this apple logo on apple logo off so on for about a hour then it turnt on but the lock/power button was not working so I could not turn it off again but the phone was on the lock button came to life earlier today, about 7'o'clock.

What should I do now the phone will not take a charge, also when the phone was sitting in the puddle the charger was plugged in and it was charging the phone so I do not know if that would affect it? Any help will be appreciated

Added (1). I just want to point out that the phone still works it just won't charge!

No, it will Charge

You just answered your own question.

"water damage"

One of the first things you need to do with a water damaged phone is to take out the battery to prevent stray voltages from jumping across the water shorted electrical contacts. But since the iPhone series doesn't give you that option… It's harder to recover one of them.

By plugging it into the charger… You very likely toasted it. To paraphrase Monty Python…

This iPhone is no more! It has ceased to be! It's expired and gone to meet 'is maker! 'E's a brick! Bereft of life, 'e rests in peace! If you hadn't hooked him up to the charger 'e'd be pushing up the daisies! 'Is computational cycles are now 'istory! 'E's off the twig! 'E's kicked the bucket, 'e's shuffled off 'is mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile! He's @#$%in' snuffed it… THIS IS AN EX-iPHONE!

@Additional - If its battery has run down and it is not powering on, how do you know that the phone works?

And even if the rest of the phone's functions are working, the fact that the charging circuit or the battery is damaged (as evidenced by the fact that it's not charging) renders the phone worthless as you can't supply the power needed to bring the back online.

Either the battery is toast, the charging circuit is toast or the phone itself is toast. In either case… Your phone is @#$%ed. Time to take it to the Apple store and let the folks at the Genius Bar take a look at it and see if it's repairable or if it's toast.

I F'd up too today. I cleaned my charging port with alcohol a napkin and a toothpick.yeah i know dumb right. Now it won't charge. I have a guy near my house thats really good with iphones. I'm gonna take it there tomorrow. Where are you from?

  • Will my iPhone still work after water damage? It fell into a bucket of water last night and I can't turn the phone off because the screen is black. I can hear the phone ringing and vibrating, but can't see anything. I put it in a bowl of rice, is this fixable? Will the screen eventually work?
  • Why won't my iPhone 4 charge after water damage? My middle button wasn't working either but I sat it in a bag of rice overnight and now it's working again, only problem is my phone won't charge. How can I fix that? It wasn't completely submerged a little bit of water just got inside the base piece.
  • Iphone water indicators not pink, still possible water damage? Hypothetically, if you got your iphone 4s wet, but the water indicators are not triggered at all, is it still possible the phone has water damage on the inside that apple would find if they took it apart?
  • IPhone water damage, won't charge? Hi so my mum dropped her phone down the toilet, she pulled it out straight away and dried it with a towel but it still worked perfectly fine but she did have it in and out of rice for about an hour, her phone now will not charge and just keeps flashing the charging symbol, we have it in rice now anyone have any ideas if it will still work?
