Iphone 5? Buy on pay as you go on contract?

I was thinking of getting it and then a sim only deal rather than a 24month contract. Or would it be better on contract-does that cover any damage to your phone?

Contract is an 18 or 24 month deal, can be expensive for saying the iPhone 5 has just come out, insurance is not included, if you want insurance it's like £10 more a month, last August I upgraded to a blackberry bold 9900 for a 24 month contract and after 12 months I sold it and pre ordered an iPhone, because 24 month is long and you get bored after a while so you could do what I did, so it's kind off both but I'm not sure if you are already on contract and or you are just starting, if you are not on contract then you should go on contract

The cheapest 24 month contract for the iPhone 5 with a free phone is currently £46 per month, which works out at about £1104 for the whole contract, you would have to pay extra for insurance (in the region of £6 per month). So buying the phone SIM free and getting a SIM only deal would work out cheaper.

Most SIM only deals work with standard SIM cards though while the iPhone 5 uses Nano SIM. If you do go down this route make sure you get a Nano SIM card deal.

You'll need insurance to cover damage to the phone whether it's PAYG or Pay Monthly. If you look at the cost of going sim free and then paying for your usage it works out cheaper in most cases to just go on contract. If you look at the deals on http://compareand.com/mobile-phones/apple/iphone-5-16gb/contract you'll see some of the contract deals aren't bad at all.
