Iphone 5c water damage

My brother left his phone in his shorts which got throne into the washer. So now his phone is of course not working. I tried the whole phone in rice bit but it didn't work. Tried plugging in the charger and the phone just is black screen and blinks on and off and you can see the water damage in the screen. And the greatest thing ever about this situation is that he didn't put insurance on it so he's definitely a sitting duck. Question is, is it possible to just replace the screen or maybe something else i'm unaware of?

Nope, probably pooched. Any time you try to replace a component, you're getting close to replacing the entire phone.

It's better to just buy a new phone. Replacing most of the components will be more expensive than a new phone. And you said the you plugged in the charger while the phone is probably still wet inside, only damaged the vital components and made it worse. Considering it's an iPhone, that's already gone.

By my experience, drying any soaked phone without disassembling it takes no less than 2 weeks. It's that long. Water might still be trapped inside tight spaces in the phone, making it dry up much longer. And the lack of insurance is the final nail in the coffin.

Better to just buy another phone. And don't forget it to be insured next time.

Try running a hair dryer on it might work might not

Make an appt at the Apple store. This will probably go down as a good lesson on how to better take care of your phone.

  • Will my iPhone still work after water damage? It fell into a bucket of water last night and I can't turn the phone off because the screen is black. I can hear the phone ringing and vibrating, but can't see anything. I put it in a bowl of rice, is this fixable? Will the screen eventually work?
  • Sprint warranty for water damage on iphone 4s? Recently, my brand new iphone 4s fell on my sink, the problem with it is that there are grey spots and blue spots on my screen. Do you know if there's a warranty on my phone, i remember the worker told me that it did not cover loss but i don't remember after that
  • My iPhone 4 suffered heavy water damage, will it be okay? I went in the pool with it not realizing it was in my pocket. I was in the pool for about 5-10 minutes before I realized it was in my pocket. It was on when I went in the pool but was off when I got out. I now have it sitting in a bowl of rice and I plan on leaving it in there for a week, changing the rice it's in every 24 hours. Does anyone have any insight on this, like if there's any hope of it being okay or is it done for?
  • Iphone water indicators not pink, still possible water damage? Hypothetically, if you got your iphone 4s wet, but the water indicators are not triggered at all, is it still possible the phone has water damage on the inside that apple would find if they took it apart?
