Is it bad that I hate the words, I love you?

I mean if there coming from my family, or my really close friends its one thing, but if they come from a guy, I get really nervous. I don't want to be in a relasionship where we say meaningless I love you's all the time. Maybe it's from previous relasionships that didn't end well were I thought we were in love.
But for example:
I've been getting really close with this boy and I already knew he really really likes me and I liked him too. The other night we were texting and he randomly said, "I love you (:"
And you know how the iPhone has that thing where you can tell when they read it? Well our phones do that so I'm assuming he realized I read the text and about ten minutes later he wrote, "as a friend. "
During those few minutes after he sent the first text I basically stared at it thinking how to respond. Do you think he just sent the second text so it wouldn't seem that awkward? He also asked me to be his girlfriend a little while after and I said yes of course. I really do like him, just i don't know that scared me.

I think he sent the second text as a cover up so it wasn't so awkward… And maybe you have trust issues I have them too girl don't worry but you've got to accept reality. One day, some lucky man will propose to you and say he loves you… You need to try to get over your hatred for those three words because it could ruin something for you in the future. Answer mine?
