Is it time for a new car stereo?

I have had an after market cd player for about 3 years now. The CD player is double din JVC KW-XR810. It has worked flawlessly for the past 3 years. My main (and basically only) use for it was to connect my iPod to it via USB. I recently bought an Apple laptop and had to move all of my songs from my previous computer over to my new Apple laptop. After I did that and synced my iPod and iPhone with my new laptop and put music from it onto my iPod, the CD player then started getting weird on me when I would connect it via USB.

I'm not sure if changing computers has anything at all to do with it, but for some coincidental reason that is when the CD player started acting strange.

For example, when I press the button on the CD player to change the song, it will mute the audio, or take me to the settings menu. It also lags and moves very slow. Sometimes when I use the volume knob to change the volume, it will either freeze and not work, or it will change the song. Long story short; it has become very lagged and sometimes doesn't even work, and when it does work it is usually doing the opposite of what buttons I press.

So is there anything I can do to fix this or should I just move along to a new CD player? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try resetting the stereo. Their should be a small recessed button to the lower right of the volume knob. You will have to find a pin to press it.

  • Why does my car stereo make a clicking sound when I charge my iPhone? I just bought a certified preowned 2009 Mazda Mazda3 hatchback. Whenever I plug my charger into my iPhone while it's connected to the aux input I hear a repeating clicking sound through my speakers. The clicking gets faster and slightly higher in pitch as I push the accelerator. What's going on?

  • Pioneer DEH-2400UB car stereo, iphone accessibility? I've been watching some reviews online, and it seems as if everyone is using a specialised cable to plug their iphones or ipods in that isn't the standard one you get from apple, i was wondering if you can jus simply plug the standard one that apple gave you into the stereo and if that will work?
  • Need a suggestion for a new car stereo? Just bought a 2003 tahoe and I'd like to put in a new stereo. The car has all Bose speakers I just want a good stereo that works well with them. Must be a double din to fit. I have an iphone but my husband uses Droid so I want something compatible with more than just the iphone. I'd like USB and aux plug in. Possibly Bluetooth. Any suggestions? Under $200?
