Are you sure that the S8 is actually unlocked? If it was then it should accept the SIM no problem.
Take the phone back to the store that sold it to you for one that is unlocked or have them unlock it. If you bought it second hand from a private person, do you even know how to reach them? If not getting the phone unlocked comes out of your pocket.
Also in your service is GSM and the phone is CDMA, it won't matter.
