Little red light on iphone?

I'm in the dark right now on my iphone, and there's a little red light just above the speaker on my phone (it's a 6) and i tried looking it up but it says that it's the "water detection sticker" or something, but my phone has no water damage, and hasn't been exposed to any water. So what is this light really?

Maybe it's the "or something" ---
whatever that may be ---
rather than the water detector.

That is not normal, have you gotten any watercolor, paint, dye or that sort of thing near your phone before? Or even pens and markers? If not i suggest going to the apple store or you may choose to simply ignore it at your own risk.

It is an infrared emitter for the proximity sensor. When your head is close to the phone the sensor picks up the infrared light you're reflecting.

Its not a "water detection sticker" though there's something like that but not on that part of the phone. What you are seeing is one of the sensors for the phone, most likely the proximity sensor which is so when you are taking a call the display goes black so you wouldn't accidentally push buttons with your face.

Sometimes in dark environments when whatever light hits it you are able to see it better.

Also not a light.

I wonder too.
