My iPhone 5s isn't turning on

I just bought an iPhone 5s via mail. I just got it today and put it in the charger but nothing happened. On apple.com it says to leave it for about 15 minutes or press the lock and home screen at the same time, i did both of those things and still nothing. It has been in the charger for about a hour and a half and it is still completely dead. Does anyone think it has anything to do with it being in the mail for about 3 days?

Probably nothing to do with the mail but there are a few things I can think of that could be the issue. First off, the battery could be fried and you need to replace it ( and yes you can replace the batteries on the iphones), it could be the charger or the wires, it could be the home button is too worn to make a connection and needs replacing, or the phone itself could be a flop, you never know and unfortunately you bought this via mail ( which usually means through the internet or e.t.c which means you have no clue about the phones history) but I would try and get my money back and never buy electronics or high priced items without seeing or being able to test it out or through a very reputable dealer or seller. I hope that you can just get your money back and have learned a valuable lesson. Please research dealers and sellers before buying something through the mail.

Where did you buy it from? Seems shady, even when I bought my 5S new I didn't even need to charge it out of the box, but I bought mine at the store in person. Leave it sit on the charger for a few hours, on my ipad I let the battery die completely and it sat at 0% for days (really bad to do that) and I had to plug it in for a while before anything even appeared again on the screen.
