My iPhone is using up more data?

I have a 16gb iPhone and I already know that some of the stuff already installed on it will use some of the GB. However, it shouldn't use any more then 3GB. I've looked at my phone and how much everything is taking up and it is no more then 8, it's actually more 7 than 8 but it says that I've used up 11.9GB and have 1.6 worth left.
What is going on and why/how is it taking up so much usage of my phone?

Please don't ask me to go into setting, general than usage to see how much I've used. Already done that and it's annoying the hell out if me saying that I've used all this up somehow.

You might want to check your list of running apps. To do so:

1. Double tap the home button.
2. Hold your finger down on an app
3. Press minus on every app.
4. Reboot.

The space that is being used must be cache.
if you have apps like picasa or instagram on your iphone. It stores cache data. You must open the application which you think is using unnecesary space and then delete the cache!

  • Will buying more iCloud space let me download more apps, songs, and photos? So i have deleted apps that i don't really need and deleted songs i don't listen to but still there's not enough space to even take a photo, A pop up comes up that says to manage my icloud storage. Would purchasing more icloud storage allow me to download more apps and have more songs and pictures on my iPhone 4 from sprint? It is an 8gb i think.

I moved to a different state for college, and after using my phone for a couple weeks here, i'm already nearing 4GB of data. I'm not using it any differently, just how i did at home. I used 1 GB of data in a period of 7 hours. Could someone please explain how this is possible? I have spoken to Verizon and Apple, who both were of no assistance. I have fetch completely off, and location services off as well.

  • Using my O2 free mobile data in Spain - do I turn data roaming on or will this charge? It's now free to text and call and use mobile data in Europe and I'm on contract with O2 and have unlimited everything. I'm just wondering if on my iPhone I have to turn data roaming on to get this or will this charge me? How does it work? As when I turn on my mobile data without data roaming the 3G doesn't work until I actually turn on data roaming?
