Lately my grandparents have been stocking up on a lot of food and other commodities lately, and me and my stepdad have been suspicious that they've been preparing for the end of the world or something like that. My stepdad thinks this because he tells me that they've done the same thing before (such as the Y2K thing).
Now today while I was being drove home from my first job interview, (went well by the way. ) my grandpa told me something about this guy from some Christian college somewhere in New England has been studying biblical manuscripts and other ancient documents and put together that the world is going to end just like this:
"Russia is going to release an un-detectable bomb above the United States that is going to release a huge EMP wave that will destroy all electronics. Then they will invade us."
On top of this, the youth pastors at my church are trying to tell us that the Bible says that the end times will follow exponential technological growth, and tried to relate it to today with the iPhone 6, SD cards, and the Google Glasses.
I'm a huge skeptic when it comes to religion, especially Christianity, I only attend church because it is a requirement (along with paying $200 rent) to stay at home until I find my own apartment. But I'm actually getting bummed out and a bit worried to see my grandparents getting so serious about discussing the preparations and stuff. Is there really sufficient evidence to back this up?
