Basically I got my iPhone for Christmas and about one month ago the lightning cable that came with it stopped working. It was temperamental at first and I had to wiggle the wire around in order for my phone to charge. I then decided to purchase a fairly cheap backup from eBay which was working fine. Sometimes a message came up on the screen saying 'unable to connect' or something very similar I can't remember exactly. However, I would unplug it and plug it back in and it would work fine. I'm currently on holiday and this charger decided to stop working and I tried wiggling the wire but no joy. One time I unplugged it and plugged it back in and my phone switched itself off (I was in such a panic but it turned back on) I thought it was because it was cheap so I spent another whopping 45 euros to find another charger out here. I don't think this one is an official apple product either but I can't go without my phone. Turns out when I plug in this charger the phone doesn't recognise it is being charged as the symbol doesn't show on the battery icon. However, I decided to leave it in to see if it would work. It is charging but at an extremely slow pace of about 1% per hour. I don't know what is wrong whether it is a problem with my phone or the cables. I'm unable to try it in another iPhone 5 either at this moment in time. It is very frustrating, especially because I'm on holiday.
My phone is still under the 1 year warranty but I didn't take out apple care. I haven't dropped it or exposed it to water either.
Any suggestions will be helpful, thanks
