I have a new iPhone 5 ( i got it on fathers day - and no i'm not a father it just worked out that way) and my parents told me that i have to pay for the first year. I have it with verizon. I have unlimited texting (not sure if that affects it, i think it does)

None of my iphone cords work, so i bought one from dollar rama for now, and it only works if i put it in a certain way. And i don't know if its my iphone that has the problem or its the cord, i tried my sisters ipod, its the old ipod and it works on that so i don't know what to do please help.
