Can I have iMessage on and still use SMS?

I have an iPhone and I prefer SMS to iMessage. If I have iMessage on, can I text someone on his/her iPhone using SMS rather than iMessage or will my phone try to use iMessage first no matter what? There's the "use SMS when iMessage isn't available" option, but is there a "use iMessage when SMS isn't available" option, too?

What will happen if I reset my iphone?

I was going to completely reset my iphone to reset all content and settings. I was wondering if I do this will my network with my phone carrier be reset as well? What I mean is if I reset my iphone completely will my network with my phone carrier (Sprint) still work normally or would I have to go the sprint store and have them reactivate it?

Why do I have a red circle on the voicemail part of the iPhone 5?

My friend was calling me, but I missed the call. While she was in the process of leaving a message, I called her. Does this have to do with the fact that I can't view the voicemail? After I finished talking to her, I noticed a red circle on the voicemail part of my iPhone 5. When I try to listen to it, I hear nothing. Why do I hear nothing? And also, I can't delete the message either because I don't have Visual Voicemail. I don't know how to change my voicemail to visual. Whenever I try to access voicemail, it just shows me a keypad.
Please clear up my confusion~ thank you.

Has anybody had this experience before? (bizarre)?

I'd like to tell you about an experience that occurred not too long ago in fact maybe 4 to 5 days ago in my room at the flat where I live at. You see, one morning I woke up to find that my digital, physical alarm clock had vanished without a trace. I assure you, this isn't an alarm clock app i'm talking about that's on my iphone, so it's not a technological mishap. This is my real alarm clock that is now nowhere to be found and left no traces. I don't have a large amount of friends so no one would have stolen it from me, I don't think anybody would've broken in and stolen my alarm clock and not something more valuable like my laptop, and I recall that before I went to sleep my alarm clock was there, the next morning it just disappeared. I've looked and looked for it everywhere that it could've just been knocked off by accident, under my bed - inside my drawers etc. It's just such an odd thing, sometimes I think about it and I feel maybe it was done to just drive me insane from how bizarre that I think it is every time I think about it. Because there's no explanation, my question is

Has anybody experienced anything similar to this before? Like things vanishing without explanation or without a trace? Does it mean anything? Where does it go? Did I make it vanish or am I reading too much into this?

I just thought I'd ask to see if anybody's gone through similar things.

Upgrade to iOS 7.0 and future iOS'es?

I've downloaded and installed the developer version of iOS 7 on my iPhone. When the public release is distributed in fall, will I be able to upgrade to that one? And if I miss it, will I be able to upgrade to future updates (like iOS 7.0.1 and 7.1.0 for example)?

How long does it take to restore and iPhone 5?

I just got it, and my iMessage won't turn on and neither will FaceTime. They both say "Waiting for activation" or whatever, then when I go to activate it, it says to check the network connection or some stupid crap, but I'm using wi-fi and have great signal.
So I'm restoring it and it's telling me I have to wait four hours, what?
