My 14 yo daughter is turning 15 in two months, and she's very excited for her birthday. We're going to Six Flags and her boyfriend is coming along (he's even driving as he's 17 and she told me I could nap w/ the husband in the back… ), then in August she's allowed to get her nose pierced, which she's wanted since she turned 13. However, one of the things she's the most excited for is a later curfew - which she just assumes will happen.
We live in Manhattan. Kids often don't drive, they take the Subway or cabs or they walk. Her curfew is 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, with flexibility depending on the occasion. She is very good about being on time for her curfew. If she will be late for whatever reason, she'll call and let us know or ask for an extension. I think 11pm is very generous for a 15 y/o, but all she does is talk about how excited she is to "not be treated like a child anymore." She wants her new curfew to be midnight or 11:45pm.
Should I bump it up? I trust her, she gets home on time, her group of friends is respectable. Yet anything later than 11pm seems too late for just regular weekends… If I were to bump it up, what would be a good time for a 15year old girl? Problem is, she looks and dresses twice her age… However, we have a GPS on her iPhone so we know where she is at all times.
Ideas, suggestions?
