Should I give up on owning a cell phone?

I feel just like the guy in this YouTube video.

I feel like my smartphone is ruining my life.

I want a basic phone, so I pulled out my old basic phone and it no longer works because my carrier no longer supports 2G in my area.

My carrier only offers one LTE flip phone, with Wi-Fi, internet and a huge screen, which is obviously what don't want in a phone.

But I want to be able to make phone calls and text and to have a phone with me for in case of emergencies.

It looks like I basically have to get an iPhone, put parental controls on it and restrict everything and then throw away the password since basic phones now come with about as much internet capability as smartphones and the Android phones are easy to get past the parental controls.

I also need to be able to call to and from Mexico on occasion. Which is another reason why I don't want to be carrying around an expensive phone (I could get mugged).

What should I do?

Is my iPhone fried/dead?

I have an iPhone 5C that I haven't used in over a year due to the screen getting cracked too badly. Around that time iTunes was able to recognize it. (keep in mind there's no screen on it) , now fast forward several months later. I have been thinking about using it again because before all it needed was a new screen and it would have been up and running, but now when I plug it in nothing happens and I've let it stay on the charger for long periods of time. I thought the charging port might have been the culprit, but now I know power is getting to the board because the CPU is kind of warm, that doesn't just naturally happen if it's dead with no power getting to it, can someone enlighten me and give me some advice maybe? I know I haven't said a lot of info, but this is all I can give. I thought maybe since the CPU is heating up that there's power entering into it, but maybe there's a boot loop happening and maybe that's why iTunes isn't recognizing it and without the screen and home button I can't tell. Any advice would be great.

I think my brother's stole money?

Money has went missing from my mum's room and my little brother has just came in with a new iPhone 6, he says his girlfriend is letting him use her old iPhone. I feel like he might of stole the money and bought a iPhone but I've checked the warranty on the iPhone and it ends October this year so he might not be lying or he might of bought the phone second hand. I don't want to blame him for it unless I have proof. Can anyone think of anything I can do
