Powering a 12 volt car amplifier with a iphone charger?
I was in a little accident a few days ago and the car i had it in is not drivable anymore. In the car i had a 12 volt amplifier, double 11" bassbox, and 3 speakers. Is there any way to connect the amplifier and everything in my room without having to use a car battery? I had this idea about using an iphone charger because if i connect it directly the amplifier will just burst into flames because the power point is 220 volts, how could i get that down to 12 volts and connect it in my room? Links with equipment for that kind of project would be splended to get. If you know anything about this i would be very thankfull if you would give me some advice.
Thank you for reading this and in advance, thank you for your answer
Use a rented hyprid for a while
Car stereos run off of dc current so you'll need something with the ability to convert your house's ac current to dc. If you happen to have any old computers laying around or know someone who does you can use the power supply from that to do so. Heres how:
Its not all about the volts its mostly the amperage I had a 1,000 watt car amp connected to the living room using a laptop charger and if you use the iphone charger its going to turn off when you turn it up because it won't have enough power
The output from the iphone charger is 5VDC at 1 amp.
Your amp and radio/cd player should be 12V and likely higher amps. You need the input power.
Computer power supplies have 12V outputs available.
Even a cheap one

Now, you do not state your country, but mentioning 220 wall volts has you non_US, so the question is where to get a 12V power supply of enough amps and voltage stability. For that you need input specs on your equipment. And then, you wire it yourself.
- Will Audio-Technica ATH-M50's work without an amplifier? I'm looking to get the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 headphones. I would mostly be using them with my iPhone 4 and my Macbook Pro 13". I listen to all sorts of music, from folk metal, hip hop, jazz, and pop. I don't know much about these higher levels of headphones but I know this pair is very good for the price. I have read a bit about portable amplifiers, but I don't know what that really is and if it would be necessary.
- Which phone, iPhone 4S 16G or LG Volt 4G? Daughter is getting new phone, please give opinions. BOTH ARE EXTREMELY GOOD PHONES! DON't GO BY YOUR OPINION BUT BY QUALITY!
- Making amplifier for for 5 watt speaker? Okay, so i have a 5 watt speaker that i want to install in my dirt bike helmet and i want to play music with my iphone 5. There's only one problem, if i plug in the speaker straight to my iphone it won't play music loud. I need an amplifier but i can't have anything to big because this speaker and the amp has to fit into my helmet. I also i have no idea what to make the amp out of or what kind of amp i need to buy.
- How to charge my iPhone in my car without an actual car charger? I'm going on a long road trip. Since the iPhone battery doesn't usually last long, i was wondering if there's another way to charge my phone without a car charger. Because my lighter doesn't work due to a broke fuse in my fuse box… Anyway- is there any alternative to keeping my phone charged?
