Stolen iphone 5! We got insurance on it but what to do now?

My iphone was stolen 4.26.13 and i was devastated. I found out that we didn't have insurance on it and we thought we did. When we went to the sprint store i was prepared to get a flip phone. (i have sprint btw) and the worker said that he could call the esurian insurance and get the phone covered so we could just pay the 150$ deductible. We did all of that and he got our phone covered and then today when we called, the lady said that she couldnt cover our phone because it was stolen before we got insurance. She asked me what date the phone was stolen. I hung up right away and said goodbye. And i'm thinking about calling tomorrow and telling them that the phone was stolen this monday to get it covered. What should i do?

Try telling them that the phone was covered on Monday, but if that doesn't work then I'm afraid there's nothing you can do because if the phone is gone, it's gone. Unless you can find the phone, they won't let you sign up for insurance because your phone has already been stolen and that will lead to them losing money if they allow people to do that. So either you lie to them or just pay the full price for a new phone.
