Tips on waking up when dealing with severe insomnia?

I have delayed sleep disorder and a very erratic sleep pattern, so I'm usually up for 2, 3 days and then end up falling asleep for 4-8 hours (sometimes longer). When I do sleep, It's deep sleep so I don't hear the alarms I set on my iphone, ipad, alarm clock, watch, etc. Because of that I've completely screwed up my education, work, social life, and health.

I know the best way to ensure waking up is getting enough sleep, but I'm incapable of doing so. I'm hoping someone has some helpful tips.

So far, I've been told taking ambien speeds up your sleep cycle and makes it easier to wake up after it wears off (it's usually 4 hours or so).

Try these tips of mine: and before going to bed avoid thinking that will make you feel excited. Ok?
Here it goes again:
- turn off the light when going to bed
-don't drink water it will awaken you
-listen to a very sad music, feel it's loneliness, just reminisque all your sadness in life. Try starlight memories by study music project, search it in youtube, the trick there's lonely people tends to sleep more. Just play the song repeatedly and you'll see that you're sleepy nuh.
-avoid using devices and any things that emits light when going to sleep.
- so goodluck. That's my trick when i'm having an insomnia. Try to discipline yourself too.

Stimulus Control Therapy: creating a sleep environment that promotes sleep
Cognitive Therapy: learning to develop positive thoughts and beliefs about sleep
Sleep Restriction: following a program that limits time in bed in order to get to sleep and stay asleep throughout the night
Relaxation techniques, such as yoga, meditation, and guided imagery may be especially helpful in preparing the body to sleep. Exercise, done early in the day, can also be helpful in reducing stress and promoting deeper sleep.

Behavioral therapies alone may not be enough. Treating insomnia with medication is the most common treatment for these sleep problems, particularly once a combination of behavioral approaches has been tried

Get perscribed adderall. Makes me the most alert and focused person in my 7:30 lectures. All my classmates must think I'm a coke head.

Since you have an iPad and an iPhone:

I recommend you try these apps:

1) Progressive Alarm Clock

The progressive alarm clock app emits a sound which gradually increases in loudness, allowing you to wake up more easily

2) Glen Harrold's Sleep Well Hypnosis

This uses 'hypnosis' to guide your body to sleep, and includes a 20 - 30 minute relaxation tape

3) Brainwave's Binaural Beats apps

Uses binaural beats (used for meditation and relaxation) to assist in falling asleep

  • When dealing with small electronic components, should I wear gloves? I'm going to replace my iPhone 4S Screen. Which requires me to gut the whole phone in order to get to the screen. I'm pretty confident that it will be successful. But I'm aware that my oils or static can destroy (i don't know) the components. Would it be a good idea to wear latex gloves or something?
  • What do I do SEVERE anxiety? What steps should I take? My name's Brooke and I have VERY frequent panic attacks. When I say frequent I mean multiple small ones a day and 3 or 4 big ones a week. It's getting in the way of my work and drains me. I'm constantly tired yet when it comes time for bed I can't fall asleep. I will throw in a odd thing I freak out over to lighten the question… I bob and weave while outside because I feel like a gun is pointed at my head. No joke it's funny after, but during it SUCKS.
  • Tips on transferring certain songs from iTunes to iPhone, please? Okay, so I have like 8.3 GB worth of songs on my iTunes. But I only have a 16 GB iPhone which of course doesn't necessarily mean it really is 16 GB. So most of the space has been occupied by my gazillion photos and apps, so here's my request: Do any of you have some tips on how to make my life easier and transfer the songs I like the most and leave the ones I don't listen to that much? My space budget is around 4 GB.
  • How do I stop my iPhone SE from waking up when it is picked up? I just realized that my battery life may be suffering because the display is coming on when the phone is picked up - is it also coming on in my pocket as I move, pulling a bit of charge out of the battery each time? Anyway, how do I get it to quit that?
