Using Iphone in different country?

So i going away to jamaica. Could i use my iphone there. Or will they charge me. Like i'm staying at a hotel with Wi-Fi and such. Can i use my phone without cellular(callin people) and just use it for internet and Wi-Fi. How will this affect my bill

Take out the SIM card in your phone and they can't charge you a penny. Your phone then can't communicate with their servers and they will think the phones off. If you don't want to take the SIM card out, just put it into airplane mode. That will also cancel out all communications with their servers. Once airplane mode is on, just turn on Wi-Fi and you'll be set. Taking out the SIM card is guaranteed to not have any charges on your phone while airplane mode could accidentally be turned off and then the bill price goes up and up.

  • Will my iPhone 5 work in a different country? It's an iPhone 5, and I live in NZ. We're going on a trip to America for a couple of weeks, and I don't know if my phone will work. I don't care if I can't text or make phone calls, or about roaming or whatever with Vodafone. I just want to make sure I can use Wi-Fi like usual. Obviously the camera and iPod parts will work? But what about Internet? Cheers.
  • When in a contract, can I get a different SIM while in another country? I'm going to china in 15 days and I want an IPhone so I can take pictures and have data while I'm there. I'm staying for an entire month. Getting this IPhone (with either sprint or T-mobile) with put me in a 2 year contract. Will I be able to use my phone while I'm there with the new SIM card I'm buying in China. I heard that my phone will be locked while I'm out of the country or something.
  • Using Viber on iPhone with Wi-Fi in different country? Hi so I'm traveling next week and I was wondering if it will be free to use Viber from my iPhone using Wi-Fi. If I'm connected to Wi-Fi will I be charged/ will it work in a different country. I'm going to America if that matters.
  • Is texting or calling from iPhone to iPhone free if you're in a different country? I live in the US And I'm going to Sydney, Australia for 3 weeks in a little while but I'll only be 17 when I go with one of my friends and I wanted to make sure I could communicate with my mom. There aren't many hotels I can find with free Wi-Fi or even Wi-Fi in general. The hotel we're probably going to stay in only offers wired. Both my mom and I have iPhone's so if we text or call on the cell phone data (I have Verizon) will my phone bill price be crazy high?
