Why do people call teenagers with electronics 'spoiled'?

For example, there are teenagers out there that has a laptop or ipod/iphone and other teenagers, especially the poor ones, calls them spoiled. In my opinion they are just jealous because their family is too poor to afford any of those technology. But deep inside, i know they want it.

A lot of the time they are. At least a little bit.

It depends on the attitude. If teenagers are grateful for what they have and respectful of their belongings, then fine. If they have a bunch of stuff and then complain about how mean their parents are and how they don't get anything cool, or they treat their stuff poorly, then they are acting spoiled. Kids who flaunt something they have that others don't have are also acting in a way that invites criticism.

If they just use it and enjoy it, fine.

If they brag, that's spoiled.

Because most of the time, they are. Maybe more privileged than spoiled, but does a teenager really need an iPod Touch 5, iPhone, iPad Mini, and Kindle fire? If they deserve the electronics, they pay for them, and they actually use them, then that's not spoiled.

I have a laptop that my mum worked so hard to pay for, she worked extra hours for 6 months to pay for it.

I paid for my mobile myself with the money i worked for.

I'm certainly not spoiled and i'm greatful for everything i have.

However teens and kids that get everything handed to them on a plate are spoiled.

Being spoiled means you think you're entitled and you're ungrateful. For example, you have a brand new rage rover, new laptop, an iphone, but you still say "I hate my parents" or "I hate my life", you're acting spoiled.

I get called spoiled a lot, and I'm, but that's beside the point. My parents just never know what to get me so I get a new electronic.
