Should I buy my teenagers iphone 6?

I have a 14 year old daughter that is a straight A student and a 16 year old son not a straight A student. They both want an iphone 6. Is this a good idea? They both seem like really good kids. They said all their friends have smartphones.

Sure, buy them a smartphone. But i seriously don't recommend an Iphone. They break easily, and aren't very good. Android are sturdier, don't break as easily, and are usually cheaper and have better software/data/memory.

If they're good kids and you can afford it, yea!

No, you shouldn't. Teenagers don't need smart phones. If you want to give them cellular phones by them basic phones but not smart phones.

Make them follow 2 rules before they get it.

1) Its never in your bedroom at night and always sits on the living room table instead (i.e. Won't be bothering their sleep or up texting all night).

2) Its never locked when it sits on table overnight (so they know you can view it if you want, whether you do or not doesn't matter, they just need to know it).

If they can't follow those 2 rules then they always have the option to not have one.

You should buy them iPhone 6, if you can easily afford that.
Make them earn their gift by demanding good grades or making any promises.
Your children are asking for the latest device now. Keep in mind it won't be the latest for long time and then their friends will definitely have the iPhone 7 etc. So, make sure that you get a positive outcome from your children by spending money on them.

My 14 and 16 yo daughters both have iphone 5's which at the time of purchase was the high end apple phone avaiable. If you can afford it, and they are otherwise good kids, I see no reason not to buy them the phones they want. I do agree that the 5 and 5s are a bargin compared to the 6, so that is a very reasonable compromise.
