Can you use a prepaid Sim Card in an iPhone?

Okay I have an iPhone 4, currently I have internet and unlimited text with At&t, however due to family issues, our service is getting cancelled and mom has agreed to buy me a prepaid phone from At&t, with unlimited text and 250 minutes for $25.So I'm wondering if I cut my prepaid Sim card and put it into my iPhone would it still work? If I activate the Sim and then just slip it into the phone. Without a Data Plan? Or will At&t add a Data plan on there automatically?

Call ATT before putting the sim in your iPhone and ask them to prevent ANY data to your sim. This will ensure you don't get charged. Now, unlock your iPhone. Many sites will do this for 10 dollars or less. Then, just pop in your sim!

  • Will cutting my sim card work to use as a micro sim card? I just ordered an iPhone 4 and I need to cut the sim card to make it a Micro sim. Will it affect it. I have seen a bunch of video and already have the template it for it. I'm using simple mobile. Do you know if anything wrong happen to it?

She said the phone would be unlocked after a certain date but it hasn't yet. If i do this myself will I be able to use any SIM card? I have 1and1 for phone service and when I travel to the states I get a prepaid SIM from tmobile. Will these work on the iphone too?

I really don't want to have to buy a new SIM card from anyone, especially not at the supply-and-demand prices one now faces in the mobile phone world. If I can keep my number, that'd be just too groovy for words; I don't really expect to be able to though.
