How long should an iphone last in airplane mode?

I have an iphone 5c and in 8 hours I lose about 50% of my battery in airplane mode. The phone was locked the entire time. Is this normal? I have gone into Verizon and Apple a couple times about my battery life and they always say it's average.

According to Apple, the battery life should be ≤225 hours in stand by (that's assuming phone is off). Try next time instead of using Airplane Mode to turn off phone completely (press and hold sleep/wake button on top of phone and slide to power off), and that should help to save battery life. IOS 7.1 has been proven to increase battery life, but if you can't wait, I recommend you to acquire a battery case/external battery or to go back to the Apple Store and ask them again about the reduced battery and to do a diagnostics on the phone.
