How to text for free using tmobile on vacation in Europe?

I have an iPhone 4 & live in illinoise at the moment, I'm going to Poland on vacation for 3 weeks.

I was wondering how I can text for free while I'm there, do I need to buy a new phone? Monthly plan? New sim?

I know I can down load free texting apps but i don't know if that will work.

  • Will my iphone 4 work in Scotland while I'm on vacation? I live in Texas and I'm going to Scotland--will my iPhone 4 work? I just learned I will be able to connect through Wi-Fi. Does that mean I can use twitter?
  • What's the best sim card for using iPhone 5S around Europe? So I'm going to Europe in a couple of weeks and was wondering what my best option if for using my phone. I'm travelling through Italy, Austria, Czech Republic & France. Additionally, would I require a new sim card in those countries to avoid roaming charges or aren't then any in Europe for european sims? Also, it's an iPhone 5S so I need a micro sim… Will that pose an issue? Can you buy sim cards at the airport in Rome?
  • What camera to get for vacation? I'm going on vacation to Mexico and I want a camera cuz I plan on going to a lot of different places. I take pictures with my iPhone daily but I know it's crap compared to a decent camera. I don't go on vacation often so I don't want to spend more than $200 so hopefully that will get me a decent camera. I'm not a pro so if you guys have some suggestions on what cameras are good during the day and night I would appreciate that.
  • Using my iPhone on vacation? I was wondering if I turn my iPhone 5 on airplane mode for 2 weeks, will I be charged anything? And if I turn on Wi-Fi during that time will I be charged for Internet?
