Can you charge iPhone 5 with generic wall adapter?

I have an iphone 5 and a usb lighting cable, but I don't have an apple wall adapter made specifically for this phone. Can I use a random generic wall adapter that you would use for an android phone?

I dropped my Iphone 4S in a glass of water. I quickly put it to my computer to back it up. Itunes wouldn t let me back it up because I couldn t put in the passcode and the screen did not turn on. But when someone called me it still rang and vibrated. I put it in rice for two days and plugged it into the computer to charge. Nothing will happen. Before I put it in rice the LED light on the back of it stayed on. I don't care about the phone anymore I just want the memory I have on it. I have 4 years worth or pictures on it and notes I made from when I was in tokyo. Is there anyway I can get this info back… And No i don't have a backup of any of this on itunes. Any help please.
