How does a company on the Stock Market make money?

Like let say Berkshire Hathaway.

Their market cap is something like $340 billion.

So, when I think about it. It gets a bit confusing.

Investors are buying, maybe one or two shares and hoping that they can earn a huge amount of money back from that.

Do the Board of Directors, use that $340 billion to help improve their business. Like would Apple.inc, use their market cap to help create more iPhones, iPads, etc.

But if they do use the money to help make their business bigger, they'd be taking money from the investors who are there hoping to make a profit from the stocks.

I realise and apologise for the fact that this sounds like an incredibly ignorant question.

Can I trust him? Is it a scam?

I lost my iphone 5 November of last year, I had to downgrade into my moms old iphone 4. I never got it back after leaving countless messages on my phone. Well recently I got a call from a guy saying that he bought an iphone 5, and it had my phone number on it so he called me. He said he was willing to return the phone because he didn't want to have a stolen iphone. He didn't ask for money, and he was really nice on the phone. He ended up texting me like an hour later asking for my Apple ID to unsync his SIM card he put in my old phone. My brother responded for me telling him we didn't know it, just to be on the safe side and not give our info. Because the guy lived close to us, we offered to drive to his place and get everything situated since my older brother is good with computers and iPhones, we told the guy that it would be my brother and I and my older sister, he said that he "didn't want to get jumped." But I reassured him it was for my safety, And he hasn't responded since. Is it a scam? He sent me photos of my phone, and read the message I sent on it so I know it's mine, plus he didn't ask for money. I'm not sure.

IPhone 5s blacklisted, so annoying?

I recently bought a phone from gumtree and it worked fine until my provider (virgin) black listed it, now no calls or texts function and this is a huge inconvinience as I paid almost full price for this phone, Wich was brand new in the box. Luckily my cousins from different country want to buy it but my phone is locked to virgin mobile. Even though my iPhone has been blacklisted on a locked network, Is it possible to unlock my phone to all networks still so it can be sold abroad?

How to delete an updating app?

I started updating an app but one of them updated normally and the other just says waiting and I have been updating other things normally but this one is messed up. Oh and up top right next to my battery percentage (I have an iPhone) it has that loading sign for internet but it hasn't updated or got anywhere and it has been 4 days… Is there a way to stop it or delete it?

Feel so guilty? Is it entirely my fault?

Hi, I feel so guilty and haven't been able to sleep all night because of it,

This girl I really like has been moaning about how bad her battery on her iphone is so, to help her, I bought a new battery. I went around hers to try and replace it. We changed batteries but when trying to put the screen back on SHE pushed on the screen too hard and broke it. To add to it further, when she went to plug it in to charge, it said It needed to be connected to iTunes which means something has happened inside. Is it my fault? What can I do to help? Really need some peace of mind?

I sold an item & paypal won't give me my money?

So recently I sold an iPhone 5s for 500$ so the buyer asked to send the item via USPS express delivery & send paypal the tracking number so that my paypal account could be credited (this was the original deal) the. Paypal send me an email saying that there was an error with the transition, that 300$ were added by mistake from the buyers account. After that I got an other account saying that I have to send the buyer the 300$ that were added by the error via Western Union & get back to them with the details so that my account could be credited. So I told the buyer & PayPal that I was not going to do that, because that was not part of the deal & that I wanted either my iPhone 5s back or the 500$ that I asked for. Now I contacted the buyer & he agrees with me and told paypal about the problem, I also contacted paypal & they keep on telling me that I have to send the buyer the 300$ that were added by error so that my account gets credited. I told paypal once again that I wasn't going to to that, because that was not part of the original deal & now they send me an email saying that they are going to take Legal Action on me. So I wanna know if there's anyway that the buyer can get he's money back? & what can I do in this conflict?
