So my daughter(s) start school next month. I'm overprotective, I admit, but with all the horror stories I hear about teachers being irresponsible or abusive, neglectful or negligent, plus the bully problem in the world today, I've been reduced to nail biting nervousness regarding sending my daughter.
Today, I began searching for a lawyer to put on retainer to represent me and my children. Lawyering up in advance, that's corporate warfare, I know… But it seemed like a good idea at the time… Chalk it up to the fact that i'm a litigious business owner with a history of such. I intend to force the school to send all correspondence to my attorney, who would look it over, and then forward to me or present the case he thinks he has to me. The retainer for such services is around $2,500 a month, from what I've been told so far. A drop in the hat for my child's safety.
I've also considered fitting my daughter with a button cam, so I can see and hear everything that goes on. Add to that the fact that my 4 year old daughter already has an iPhone 5 with GPS tracking capabilities, and she's already able to use it, call me and play games on it:-) . I've used tech to my full advantage to secure my daughter as much as possible, thus far.
My question now is, am I freaking out? Is a 5 year old with legal representation a bit too much? Or is it legitimate protecting in 2014, when everything is a legal battle and it seems like accountability and responsibility are at an all time low?
