When i hook it up to itunes it says "your iPhone is locked with a passcode" it was, until it got disabled and needed to be hooked up to itunes? I'm really confused. I really need help soon, because it is my moms and my brother locked it.

I had 3g, 3gs, 4, 4s, then 5 & now 5s.
I noticed that 8 pin cables ( iphone 5/5s) die fast without any reason!
But old versions like iphone 4 cables seem to last forever.
At home, we're using 7 of Apple devices that use 8 pin cables.
I tried other brands like Belkin and nothing's changed. Again dead 8 pin cable of Belkin.
After searching, I read something about a computer chip in these kinds of cables which means to me that these cables are sensitive.
Am I correct?
The 2nd reason is that the head is slim which means easy to break something even if you don't see it.
Okay, well my uncles friend had an old iPhone 4 he didn't need anymore, so he gave it to my uncle, who gave it to me. But, I'm trying to reset it, but the original owners iCloud data and iTunes account and stuff is on there. So I can't turn off iCloud and reset it so now i'm kinda just stuck with some other guys phone. (Which doesn't have a sim card in it, mind that). So instead of waiting to go to the AT&T store, is there anything else I can do in the meantime to just wipe the whole thing?

This has been happening every time I try to plug my phone into my laptop. Does this happen to you, and what do you do? What should I do? Last time I plugged it in, it worked perfectly. Now it won't recognize it. What can I do about it?
Should they be able to go to the park, cinema, the mall and mcdonalds without adult supervision because my sister is saying that she wants to. She has decent friends that are also around her age. She has an iPhone.
