I took out SIM card for my iPhone, why isn't my data erased?

Okay, long story short, I got an iPhone 5s a few days after it released, so I had no need for my iPhone4s. My friend's old, cracked slide phone was in really bad condition, so I told her she could have my old iPhone 4s.

Now, I removed the SIM card really fast during class, that had all my old memory, since class was ending in a few minutes, and she just texted me saying my old phone's password is still on.

Why isn't my data erased? Shouldn't it be gone with the SIM card? I don't have anything to hide, but I really don't want her to see my old stuff, since I have personal information, so I'm kind of flipping out.

Should I buy the iPhone 5c or iPhone 5s?

Does connecting an iphone to home Wi-Fi cost money?

I've had my phone for a while and its started not working very well and my dad just surprised me with the iphone 4 today. But he says that I can't go on the internet aka i can't get any apps because it will cost extra. BUT i think that if i connect to my home Wi-Fi, it will not charge anything. Will it still cost money to go on existing Wi-Fi? Or is it just if you try to use the internet without an existing connection?

Iphone 5s frozen on icloud restore?

I've started up the iphone 5s and clicked on the option 'restore from icloud' but it loaded till about 1/10th of the way and stopped loading for the next 3 hours.
I pressed the home and lock button to restart it but it keeps freezing for several hours.

Try and do a perfect backflip.

Notice how your phone will try and rotate from left-to-right while doing the flip. It's almost impossible to do a perfect backflip.
