Is the iphone 4 too outdated?

I can get it for 300.is it worth it?
that's 400 cheaper than the 5 (which is 700)
so is it worth it?
will i have access to all of the latest apps still?

Iphone 4 is sending messages that were sent earlier?

I've had this problem before but now it's just getting out of control.
My iPhone 4 is sending messages to people that were previously sent.already
The original texts will go through and I will continue on with conversation but then they'll go through again, sometimes hours later other times days later. It's getting really annoying and it makes me look like a lunatic to the receivers of the texts.
They don't show up on my phone as being sent again.
I don't know what to do, I've tried turning my phone off and on again and deleting my messages.
What should I do!

Added (1). I;m also leaving for basic training (ARMY) in the beginning September, so I would rather have a phone that works so I can contact my family and friends after my graduation from that. Not having to worry about multiple messages being sent and all that. So breaking it wouldn't be a good idea, I'm not stupid. Nor do I find useless comments to be funny.

Can iPhone 4S without plan use message?

I use an old iPhone 4S like an iPod until I get my plan set up. Since iMessage uses email I thought I could still use it without a number. Not workin. Don't say I'm stupid or use any dumb remarks just give me an answer. Thanks
Plus, since iPods use iMessage shouldn't it work for me if I set it up like the iPod?

Upgrading to iPhone 5 on AT&T?

I have an iPhone 3GS and I'm eligible for an upgrade on AT&T. I'm going to pay the $199.99 for the iPhone 5 and the $36 upgrade fee. I plan to go into the AT&T store to upgrade. I only have one day to upgrade because I leave the next day for a 2 week trip. Will they be able to get me my new white iPhone 5 in that one day and get it all set up or do they need to order the iPhone and wait for it to come in?
