If someone gives you a gift, do they have the right to take it back?
Okay so, I'm not going to go into detail, but my father (that i have not seen in three years) returned to where i lived and scheduled a visitation… I don't know, i guess he thought he could make an attempt to "buy my love"? He bought be and iPhone 4S. Not too much, but it is a very expensive phone for me, (considering my old one was 10.00) Anyways, He's still the same person. A liar, and a very Mean Spirited person, so he picked a fight with me over TEXT.(improper much?) And, he insulted my mother (calling her mean and horrible things) and he said that i was 'just like her for not calling him on fathers day after all he did for me, (which was just buy me a phone… ) I mean, don't get me wrong, i'm happy to have such a nice phone, but i know what he's trying to do. He cheated on my mother, and left me and my mother and my 2 brothers on the side of the road. LITERALLY. The side of the road. So, it's natural to have resentment, so please don't say i'm being dumb, or stupid, or greedy! I'm really trying to do the right thing here! Anyways, After i defended my mother, and denying that we're… (the b words) he said, and i quote, straight from the phone, "If you think you're going to talk to me like this and keep a 500$ phone? No ma'm". Then he gave me a PO box to ship the phone back. Does he have the right to demand it back? I do have a text from earlier, that he says, "I was not attempting to "buy" your affection Carrie, it was a gift, and i wanted you to have it." Please help! My mother says No, he can't because it was given to me, but my older brother, (he is 23) says Yes he can demand it back. Who's Right?
