Why is my internet still bad

Well my internet has never been incredible but it has varied from good, bearable and just plain bad.
Just last week i was with TalkTalk and i was getting around 1-4 Mbps Download to 1-2 Upload speed. So it wasn't great and whenever i played online on my PS3 it would usually lag. Now about 2 years ago when i used to play Call Of Duty, I was no stranger to Connection interruptions and lag.
As i started to play Battlefield 3 I haven't lagged hardly until these past few weeks. So anyway i knew it was time for an Internet upgrade. My Dad bought an Optic Fiber broadband and i must say as soon as i used the Internet Speed Test with my iPhone it showed up as Ping 20 Download speed reached 35 Mbps and Upload speed was 1-2.50 Mbps. And i was over the moon with joy! I thought my internet would be great. However, it only showed up with these speeds when i'm by the Modem.
Once i tried the test upstairs I was getting like 2-3 Mbps Download speed? I tried it today and it came up with 10. These tests are all on my iPhone though! I tried it on my Laptop just now in my bedroom and it's not at all bad it better than before. Up here on my laptop it's about 8 Mbps Download speed. But what i really don't understand is the connection on my Playstation 3? I had no problem signing in and all it came up with the signal strength ranging from 70% to 80% Signal strength. So i thought i would play Battlefield 3, i joined a game and i literally could not play! I was running on the spot for ages, me thinking it would improve. I couldn't do anything it just had the connection interruption icon in the top right corner of the screen for ages! So please anyone? Some advice would be appreciated? Should i get the modem installed in my room? That way i can use a wire to connect it? Would that improve it? Or should i just get a long lead from the living room to my room?

Can I get out of paying for a data plan under at&t?

I currently have an iPhone 3GS through Straight Talk under their 45 unlimited everything plan. My mother currently has a non smart phone she uses under AT&T. She is currently eligible for an upgrade, and she is thinking about making that upgrade an iPhone 4 which she will just give to me.

I'm wondering if it would be possible for her to get the iPhone 4 as her upgrade, then for me to simply take my sim card out of my 3GS and use it in the 4 and then her just go back to using her old, non-smart phone that she's used to?

Also, would we be able to get out of the data plan that comes with the AT&T contract for the iPhone 4?

Can you buy a used AT&T iphone and switch it to Straight Talk?

I have a iPhone 4 with AT&T but i'm switching services to Straight Talk. I would call Straight Talk and ask but customer service takes too long, the music gets annoying, and when the recording doesn't understand me they transfer me to someone else I don't understand…

What providers can I use my iPhone 4s with?

I have an iPhone 4s currently connected with Sprint. To my understandings the iPhone 4s is CDMA and GSM compatible. So if I were to terminate my contract with Sprint would it be possible for me to use my phone with other providers such as Boost Mobile, NET10 and Straight Talk?

Do I have to accept a return on an iPhone I sold on eBay?

I sold a Verizon iPhone 4S on eBay on June 6th with a 14 day return policy. I specified in the description that I will only accept a return within this time period if it is not as described. The buyer said he was satisfied with the purchase, however he had T-Mobile. He bought the phone thinking he could activate it on his plan, however he could obviously not and now wants to return it. Do I have to agree to the return or not? It was past the 14 days from date of sale and it was not as if the item wasn't as described, only that it was his mistake. What should I do? Thank you everyone. Here is my listing: http://cgi.ebay.com/...1091593373
