Can an American iPhone be given as a gift to a person in China?

I want to buy an iPhone for a friend in china. I went to WalMart and they told me that although I didn't need to sign a contract or have a carrier company, I needed to have a phone card or have a linked credit/debit card that can be have the amount owed from calls swiped away monthly. They were pretty cheap phones. An iPhone 6 cost $199.99 and an iPhone 5 cost $129.99. I just don't know if a Chinese phone card would be the same as an American phone card. I didn't want my friend to be not able to use his phone in china. Just as a clarification, he is a permanent resident of china and will only make calls within china. I'm just his friend buying him a phone from the states.

What kind of devaluation to expect on iPhone SE?

I've been thinking about getting the iPhone SE. Even getting the 128GB version for another $100 is on my mind since I do need to carry around video presentations with me. But in trying to decide whether to bite off a $20 per month phone vs. A used iPhone 5 I'm having a hard time.

iPhone SE: $300 for 64GB, Wi-Fi calling, possibly $250 right now for a used/unlocked one (I have T-Mobile Simple Choice 2GB/month).

iPhone 5: $134 for 64GB used on eBay, no Wi-Fi Calling, even cheaper if I skimp out on memory. I'm afraid of either one losing iPhone and app support for the app I need. The app I need doesn't work on the iPhone 3G. Obviously if that ever happens the 5 is going to go first before the SE.

But If I can sell my SE for $80 to $100 in 4 years from now that would definitely make my decision. If I could get $120 to $150 in four years from now for a 128GB SE I'd go for that. But does this sound reasonable? Will it be worth that? Or should I get a 5?

Added (1). Simple Choice Plan is $100 plus fees and taxes for four lines. So I pay close to $30 per month for my phone. Adding a $20 per month is a chunk IMO.

Wi-Fi connected but no internet

My Wi-Fi has been fine before and today, then around 3pm it just stopped working. I still have the Wi-Fi symobol on my phone and tablet but internet does not work (I'm using Data right now… ) It's the same thing on my moms phone too. I rebooted it twice by the switch and that ALWAYS works but it hasn't this time… Could it just be my cable company not working right? I have Direct TV

I don't have a computer btw just a tablet and my iPhone

Why hasn't it been working?

Will iPhone 6 still be a good phone next year?

I got an iPhone 6 Space Gray specification as a hand-me-down from my mother in March this year (2017). I really like the phone and it's in fairly good condition for a phone that came out in 2014/15. My question is if I decide to keep it till the end of next year (Fall/Winter 2018), will it be considered of little value then? I feel like with the release of a new iPhone every September, iPhones get old really quickly, in terms of software. What do you think?

Do I need to purchase a nano sim to micro sim adapter? Read description first?

I bought a prepaid SIM card that has three formats: one big sim (I think it's a macro sim), the micro sim and then the nano sim. It is the type that you just press down and get the right cutout you need. I kept the micro sim layout and am currently using a nano sim on my iPhone. So can I just put the nano sim into the micro sim layout? I really don't want to buy a sim adapter due to all the horror stories of them breaking your phones sim tray. Please provide an explanation and don't just say yes or no and nothing else.

What in settings uses data on an iphone? I'm know which apps under settings use data, I'm asking about the settings setting

I don't know how else to say it but under settings, I can check cellular usage by going under "cellular". Here I can choose to use Cellular data or not on the first line, and scroll down to individual apps with the option to allow cellular to be used or not (Safari, photos, weather etc). In this line is Settings with the option to allow cellular data or not. Since I'm under settings, I don't really see a way for me to see what in "settings" is using data. Any suggestions or is the question over-convoluted?

How to use the free Stockage options Google, iCloud ect?

My daughter just received a Asus Notebook running Windows 10… It only a 32Gb SSD so I suppose she'll have to use the free stockage Systems proposed by google, windows Apple ect. As with all kid's she takes hundreds of photo's on her iphone which until now she downloaded onto her her old laptop which has 500 gb of HD and is nearly full. At 65 I could just about get my head around downloading onto a HD but with the new virtual stuff I'm lost…
