How to fix my unresponsive touchscreen on my iPhone 4S?

My iPhone is running iOS 7.0.2, and the touchscreen has randomly stopped working. I can't turn the phone off or put it into DFU mode either because my power/lock button is broken. And finally I can't restore the device because it tells me I have to turn Find my iPhone off on my phone which I obviously can't do because the touchscreen is completely unresponsive. Anyone know what I can do?

Can I activate an old iPhone as a basic phone?

I have an out of service iPhone but right now I'm using a basic phone. Can I activate the old iPhone as a basic phone and just not use that data part of it? I only want it to text/call and I like the iPhone better then the basic phone I have now but I do not want to pay for a data plan.

Thanks!

If you could look at my other questions too that would be great!

Bought used iphone but has service from old user?

So I just bought an iphone 4 cdma (no SIM) from this dude, he has Sprint. Calls, web, his "sprint 3g" data works. Gets aroudn 2.5 mbps btw, but what should I do? It's only been one day since I had it so if he terminated the acc it could stop the service at the end of the month, but I want to make sure I'm not messing with his data limits etc.etc.

Should I buy an Iphone or keep my prepaid phone?

So I'm a college student and currently brought my cheap cellphone from home. I have never had a cellphone with a contract and the only one I have at this moment is the 20 dollar one that my father bought me years ago. I'm able to purchase a phone now because I can pay it off with the financial aid but I'm having second thoughts about it. I can buy those cards to add minutes and I would be spending 20 dollars for 120 minutes. This phone has access to texting but obviously isn't touch screen and is less trendy. If I were to buy a cellphone, I would be paying $70 a month which means I would be paying over $350 per semester in college. I could be using that money for something else, especially in college but not having a cell phone has done some damage, I have to admit. I can't socialize as much because I know they will ask for my number and I have to say "I don't have one." I mean what 18 year old college student doesn't have a cell phone? It gets to me sometimes. Like I said I could be using that money for something else, especially in college. Should I just keep my cheap, old prepaid phone and save up to $350 a semester, or should I buy an Iphone? Any input will be highly appreciated.

Will I be able to recover these photos? (iPhone)?

I have photos saved on my iphone 4 inside a privacy app. The phone is now broken and i can't get to them. I have backed up the phone to my computer, and I'm getting the iphone 5s. If i set up the new iphone to the backup of my old one (if i can even do that) will my pictures still be inside the privacy app?
