Skype on iPhone when abroad?

I live in the UK and have travelled to Australia for 2 months. I know that I should keep data roaming off to avoid a huge bill when I return, but in my hostel they offer 1 day Wi-Fi passes, which I have got. What are the restrictions with this, in terms of not paying any more than the 5 dollars for the pass? Can I use Skype, Facebook and Twitter to TYPE to friends and family? And can I also watch videos or make a call from my iPhone to my dad's PC back in the UK, or will that cost extra?

Why won't my iPhone send iMessages? - 1

So ever since I updated my iPhone 4s to iOS7, I have only been able to send iMessages to a select few people. I'm doing an exchange this year, so I need to text my exchange student, who lives in Spain. It costs $0.25 per text, which adds up and I liked being able to do it for free with iMessage. I used to be able to use iMessage with her. I tried Resetting my Network Connection already, but it doesn't work. What can I do?

Any Android Phones Faster than iPhone 5s's Outstanding Benchmarks?

I really do want to buy an Android phone, but when I look at the benchmark stats, the new iPhone 5s seems to always beat the best android phones on the market (I'm looking at the HTC One and the Galaxy S4 currently).
Here are the benchmarks:
http://www.macworld.com/...-hype.html
I really do want to support android, but it still just seems that the best android phones, although I personally prefer the freedom of their OS better than iOS, do not match the power of the new iPhone. When you look at the specs of each, it seems like phones like the HTC One should be faster, but the numbers say otherwise.
Are there any android phones with benchmark numbers that prove it to be faster than the iPhone 5. And btw, I don't really want a phone with a full 5 inch screen.

How to downgrade from iOS 7 to iOS 6?

Unfortunately, I had the experience of "upgrading" to iOS 7 on my iPhone 4S well after the "grace period" that allowed downgrading back to iOS 6 was gone. I was shown some of the new features of the operating system, and thought to myself "Why the heck not? Let's give it a try!" Only to be severely disappointed in how it looks, and worse, how it works, despite trying to find something good about it that redeems it. NOTE: I'm VERY MUCH AWARE THAT APPLE IS NO LONGER SIGNING THE CERTIFICATES FOR IOS 6, AND THAT I CAN'T DOWNGRADE BY CONVENTIONAL MEANS! DON'T TELL ME SOMETHING I ALREADY KNOW. I just want to put a line out there for anyone that might have an idea on how to find a loophole to "trick" the system into thinking iOS 6 is still compatible. I currently have another jailbroken device (iPhone 4) running iOS 6.0.1 with Cydia installed. Would it be possible to somehow use the SHSH blobs captured by Cydia to "restore" my iPhone 4S back to iOS 6? If any of you have any other ideas on what to do, please share them! I'd much appreciate being able to go back to a system that looks and functions better for my taste. Unless there's absolutely NO Way in which I can go back, as well as a legitimate reason given for why I can't, I won't take "No" for an answer.

ANY POSTS SAYING ANYTHING ALONG THE LINES OF "Oh, suck it up, you can't downgrade and you're stupid for upgrading if you just wanted to go back" WILL EITHER BE IGNORED OR RATED LOW, IF THERE's AN OPTION. THAT WILL NOT BE HELPFUL FOR WHAT I'M SEEKING, So DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME IF THAT'S All YOU'LL DO.

Added (1). Well, it appears to be there's no hope for me to downgrade manually, thanks to doing further research and using Tinyumbrella… However, I have heard that one can exchange their iOS 7 infested iPhone for one with iOS 6 still installed, so that may be what I'll do. I can't believe the direction Apple just took with this new iOS…

Smartphone Help: iPhone 4s SIM Card?

I have an iPhone 4s. It has never given me problems, but for the past two weeks it keeps alerting me "SIM FAILURE" and on the top left side where the bar signals and provider are displayed, there's a "SIM FAILURE" instead. I have tried restarting the phone, removing the SIM card and placing back in, this usually works fine for about 2-3 days and then the same problem occurs. Do I need to replace the SIM card? What are the price ranges for this? I'm looking to upgrade in December to a new phone, and not sure if worth spending $$$ on a SIM card.

Any suggestions?

Downgrading to iOS 6 from 7?

So, I recently bought an iPhone 4S because I didn't want to mess with the different charging port with the 5, 5C, and 5S. It came with iOS 6.1.2, I don't know why. I'm having a really hard time deciding whether to update to iOS 7 or not. I understand I can't "downgrade" to 6 again if I don't like it, but is it possible to get around that if I create a backup of my iOS 6, restore the phone, and put the backup back on? Will it be 6?
