I have a wireless router and it has wired connections. How do I make sure my computer, wired by ethernet cable, is using the cable instead of wireless? I'm using Windows 7 and when I'm wired (have wireless turned off) I have the square box icon for my connectivity. When I turn wireless on so others can use the connection I get the signal bars.
My problem is we have 3 iPods, 1 iPhone, 2 laptops, a PS3 and another 2 phones that can all be on at once. When I'm on Facebook, and everyone else is on Facebook I can't load a page or send a message. It's driving me crazy.
If I could make sure my computer gets the wired bandwidth and the others can fight over the wireless (currently one laptop on Skype and 2 iPads on Facebook and me here).
Suggestions please.
Added (1). I apologise, I should have added the type of router:
Linksys WAG320N - 4 wired ports.
Added (2). Thanks Dan Karas,
My problem is everyone else gets good facebook connectivity except me. If I bring my Laptop home I can get the same connectivity. But the one wired computer to the Linksys router is the one that facebook won't load or send messages. Unless everyone else goes to bed. Most other things seem to happen at reasonable speeds.
