Is getting an iPhone Confusing?

I'm thinking about saving up to buy an iPhone, and I was wondering is it really confusing to get an iPhone? I have never had a phone so I'm confused. Some other questions I need to ask:

1. Where can I find a sort of cheap one?
2. Do you think I'll be able to save up?
3. Should I just settle for an iPod instead?

IPhone 4 touchscreen problems?

I've had my iPhone for just over a year now and the other day, me and my friend was mucking about and he was wrestling me for my phone. It turned off for around two hours and wouldn't turn back on. Ever since, the touchscreen hasn't been working properly, for example: I'll be typing a text and it'll randomly scroll through the texts, click on the delete option or just randomly type loads of letter no where near whatever letter I was trying to type, so it couldn't of been a mistype. This is really getting on my nerves! Please help? Also, I have a cracked screen if that makes any difference? But it's been there for ages and hasn't made any difference to the phone itself.

If connected to Wi-Fi, does the iphone 4s affect your data bill?

I just recently gotten my iphone 4s, (yay! And i know it has a monthly data plan that i'm going to pay for. I was just wondering, if i'm at home and connect to my Wi-Fi network that i use for everything in my house (computers, e.c.t) using my phone, will it charge my data plan for over use? Or does being connected to your own network not take away data time/ charge you on your plan.
