Why do photos take up so much space?

So i have a 32gb iPhone 4S and one day my memory was full. I plugged it into itunes and saw that i had 17gb worst of photos. 75% were just worthless screen shots from facenook pictures so I decided to import my pictures, delete them all from my phone and go through all of it then pick out ones that were important e.g. Holiday and family. There was about 900-1000 pictures and some videos and when i put it in, it took up 14gb? I did a test and put in 400 different photos and that only took up 0.15gb. Why did this happen and how can i fix it, thank you.

IPhone suddenly not working overseas?

I'm in Germany for 9 days and I bought the international service plan and so far(been here for four days) it has worked perfectly but yesterday we flew into Munich and it worked fine until i got to my room where it said searching for the whole night. The Wi-Fi from the hotel was bad in my room and i have Wi-Fi now and it says I have bars but where it should say the carrier it says nothing. What do I do?

How can i track my phone its an iphone with verizon. I put my purse down to tie my sons shoes and when i was going to take a picture of my son it was gone. I don't have the tracking app i just got the phone. Can verizon track it for me. I did a police report and have a report number. How do i get my phone back. Please help me. All i really want are my sons pictures he turned one today and i had so many pictures of him for his birthday party please help me i'm desperate
