My iPhone 5 fell into a toilet and was completely submerged. The phone was on when it dropped and stayed on the lock screen. It was probably completely submerged for a few seconds (probably from my shock) before I pulled it out. It wasn't on silent when when I swiped to unlock the phone, I didn't hear noise. I shook it to get water out of the bottom port, speakers and headphone jack and dried it off with a towel. After doing this I was able to get sound out of the speakers when I swiped my phone and played music. It sounded almost normal. After a few minutes of struggling, I got the case off to further dry the phone. At this point the phone was still on (at 11% when it was previously at 13%). Probably about 4-5 minutes after I dropped it, I got a phone call from my sister. I was able to answer the phone call, but I wasn't able to hear her through the ear piece speaker. If I put the phone on speaker however, I could hear her. I ended the phone call and put the phone in a pot of uncooked rice. My sister later told me at home that my voice was somewhat muffled so I'm assuming that was from the water. The phone has been in the rice ever since, for about 4-5 hours at this point. I plan to leave it in the rice for about 48 hours. Is there any possibility that my phone will work? Since all the features were working on the phone besides mainly the earphone part, is it possible that everything else would at least continue to work? Any suggestions on what could be done to help in the process or after taking it out of the rice?
